We stayed at Six Senses Laamu for one week during the first week of February and had an amazing time. The villas are cozy (husband and I had a water villa on Jetty C and our friends had a beach villa close by. It is difficult to say what is best about Laamu as many things would qualify! The service is superbe, the staff incredible friendly and clearly happy to be working there. The food was amazing and offers plenty of choice. We booked half board and I can certainly recommend this. We ate in the LEAF restaurant twice, had the Asia Buffet one night, ate in Chill one evening, in Longitude once and had a BBQ on the sandbank and a special dinner on the beach. All meals were delicious and even though a supplement needs to be paid on half board for the special dinning experiences (i.e. sandbank) it was definitely well worth the money. Food is excellent.
Diving was superbe too. Having travelled to the Maldives 10 times before, we found the corals to be much healthier here than anything we have seen. The fish live is diverse and plenty of big stuff (sharks, rays, mantas) as well as macro. We never once saw other dive boats in our spot which was a welcome change from diving in the North Male, Baa and Ari Atolls.
The resort is relatively new but one does not feel this at all. Management is hands-on and seems to take good care of its staff. We attended the GM cocktail one night which was great. The villas are cozy and well appointed. The housekeeper we had was a star and looked so well after us with special touches at night is decoration. The outdoor shower and great class bathtub are a nice touch.
In addition to the diving, we experienced the Jungle Cinema (an open air movie place) and enjoyed that. At the bar Chill, they had live music by a great couple playing guitar, piano and vocal. It gives a great nice atmosphere. Of course you must try the ice cream parlor and chocolate room where you can indulge in ice cream flavors I never even knew existed.
Overall I can highly recommend this resort and we will definitely be back. I would recommend people book spa in advance as they are quite busy and we were unfortunately not able to get our spa treatments booked at the times we wanted to. The treatments itself were fantastic though.
Great resort with good value for money.
